Integrated Management of Sick Toddlers (MTBS) is an integrated and integrated approach to health services for sick toddlers which includes nutritional status, immunization, and counseling for sick toddlers. This MTBS is intended for toddlers aged 0-5 years and is divided into 2 target groups including:

  • Age group 1 day to 2 months

  • Assess and classify sick children with signs of not being able to drink, vomiting, seizures, until consciousness decreases, coughing, and difficulty breathing.
  • Determine action through antibiotic treatment. 
  • Providing counseling to mothers through nutritious and appropriate feeding. 
  • Referral as a follow-up service for children to receive intensive care.

The following is the flow of Integrated Management of Sick Toddlers (MTBS) services at puskesmas that mothers can follow in their respective areas:

  • Participants bring registration books such as KIA books and BPJS cards.
  • Participants register at the registration desk provided. 
  • Participants wait in their seats until the officer makes a name call. 
  • Next, the officer called the patient’s identity.
  • Participants performed anamnese, such as the main complaint, time of illness, and treatment history.
  • Participants carried out general examinations such as respiration, degree of dehydration, temperature, to nutritional status. 
  • The officer writes the results of the examination based on anamnese and general examination on the classification form. 
  • Furthermore, the officer will prescribe treatment according to the MTBS procedure. 
  • If needed, the officer will also provide a treatment referral for a doctor’s consultation according to treatment. 
  • After completion, participants can be allowed to go home.
