This time the company reviews the role of anthropometry in interior design by collaborating with Ms. Lulu Purwaningrum. He is an expert in fine art in general and interior design in particular. The discussion took place on Friday (11/11/2022) at the PT Solo Abadi Indonesia workshop.

Apart from serving as Head of Study Program, he also participates as a member of the academic senate as well as a senate member of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Sebelas Maret University.

Ms. Lulu is also active in conducting research and is currently awaiting the patent registration process for the product resulting from her research.

The Role of Anthropometry in the Field of Interior Design

In the #BincangBarengExperts discussion segment, the Solo Abadi team explored the roles of anthropometry in various fields by asking experts directly. On this occasion, Lulu, as an expert in interior design, explained about anthropometry in her field.

Anthropometrics or human body dimensions are widely applied in ergonomics. This knowledge connects the field of interior design and its interactions with humans. In fact, not only in the field of interior design, he said that ergonomics is also studied in art in general, side by side with physiology.

Ergonomics has a crucial role in interior design practice. One of these things was mentioned by Mrs. Lulu in her research. The research entitled “Mismatch Analysis of Elementary School Desk and Chair Using Monte Carlo Simulation” by Ms. Lulu and also a number of other experts discusses and compares the dimensions of the chairs of the two countries. The two countries focused on in the journal are Japan and Indonesia.

Through the journal it was revealed that Japan has regulations that adjust student body size to the dimensions of the chair size used. So that each student must use a chair that has been labeled with an individual name. This is then different from Indonesia, because the chairs and tables used are only one size and can be exchanged with each other.

She said that the impact of this discrepancy would not be felt instantly, but could affect it in the long term. This then becomes a criticism for Indonesia to pay more attention to the suitability of the dimensions of the student’s body with the dimensions of the chairs and other learning support facilities. This then proves the importance of matching anthropometry with the interior design of the room.
