Surakarta, PT SOLO ABADI INDONESIA – On Wednesday (09/02/2022) Dian Untoro as the owner of Solo Abadi had the opportunity to be a resource person in the Virtual Talkshow agenda “Answering the 2022 National Nutrition Challenges” especially regarding stunting in Indonesia which was broadcast through the Solopos TV Youtube channel on at 14.00 WIB. This agenda also presented four other speakers, namely the Head of the BKKBN, Dr. (H.C) dr. Hasto Wardoyo, Sp.OG (K), Chancellor of ITS PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta Weni Hastuti, S.Kep., M.Kes., PhD., Member of Pokja 4 TP-PKK Central Java Rinaningsih SKM., M.Sc., and Chair of TP – PKK Wonogiri Verawati Joko Sutopo.
The Virtual Talkshow which was witnessed by up to two thousand Youtube users discussed how stakeholders respond to the challenges of national nutrition in 2022, guided by Ika Wibowo as the announcer of Solopos FM. So that it involves not only one point of view but five expert points of view with various backgrounds.
Stunting Conditions in Indonesia
The discussion opens with answers from dr. Hasto Wardoyo, Sp.OG(K) or who is familiarly called Doctor Hasto regarding nutritional issues in Indonesia, especially stunting. The latest stunting prevalence rate in Indonesia reaches 24.4%, which means that for every 100 children there are 24 who are indicated as stunting. This figure is below the tolerance of the WHO, which is 20%, so serious attention and synergy from various sectors are needed.
Furthermore, Dr. Hasto also explained about the process of stunting, starting from the mother’s condition that was not prime, conditions such as vitamin D deficiency caused the baby’s placenta to be thin so that the baby did not get adequate nutritional intake in the womb.
“Stunting is the only visible problem, behind stunting there are still many problems. This is what causes serious problems,” he explained.
Stunting Responsibilities of Various Components and Stakeholders
Continuing with the explanation from doctor Hasto, the Chancellor of ITS PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta, Mrs. Weni explained that this condition then became the responsibility of various stakeholders and community components. One of the biggest obstacles is the lack of education in the community regarding nutrition fulfillment. This is then our collective duty to anticipate conditions such as pregnant women, anemia or chronic energy deficiency.
“The increase in the incidence of stunting is mostly due to anemia in young women,” said the postgraduate of UGM
Furthermore, Mrs. Rinaningsih SKM., M.Si representing Family Welfare Development or PKK explained their role. PKK always strives to be able to land existing programs into the community. Controlling pregnant women with healthy planning.
“We in Central Java are there for pregnant women, ‘Central Java Gayeng Nginceng Wong Meteng’… Pak Ganjar has launched the program (in) 2018, it’s our role PKK how to land the program” explained a member of Pokja 4 TP-PKK
The discussion continued with an explanation from Mrs. Vera as the Chair of the Wonogiri PKK regarding the stunting condition in Wonogiri. He also mentioned that stunting is not only a health problem but also humanity and poverty.
“This poverty factor initiates the emergence of other factors that cause stunting…we are starting to embrace stunting socialization not only to mothers but also to youth organizations as prospective mothers and fathers,” he said.
Private Roles in Facing Stunting Conditions
Stunting is indeed a multi-sectoral responsibility, so the mission of preventing and reducing stunting prevalence requires the roles of various components. There is no exception for the participation of the private sector or industry. “In the last 2 years, we have massively made tools that can later support the government’s program… We are here to see (according to our background) stunting which can be measured by head circumference, body length, and also height or weight. We create tools that will later be able to arm the posyandu team, so that the tools are really proper (precision and accurate),” he said.
